Is Your Company Website Hurting your Business?

We've all seen the construction company websites that still look like they were made in the 90's and early 2000's. That might have been fine back in the day, but this day and age, the look of your website represents your brand, and having an outdated website will make your company look archaic and not technologically advanced. Or worse, it'll make your company look like it either doesn't care or is not getting much business anymore.

If this is you, we're here to help you get a website that doesn't suck!

And this doesn't have to come at a cost or require HTML knowledge. Bluehost is offering hosting for as low as $4/mo for a limited time and it'll set you up to work with Wordpress which is the most popular platform for websites and offers any feature that a construction company could ever want.

We made a quick tutorial to get you up and running, so just click the link below and follow these steps to get a modern looking website for your company!

This entire process is just 6 steps 1. Get Hosting And Your Website Domain

2. Set Up Your Hosting and Install WordPress

3. Log In To Your New Website

4. Install A Pre Made Theme for Your Website

5. Enter Your Content

6. Create Your Website Menu

This guide was made to help you regardless of your skill level, so rest assured that you don't need to be a pro at this!

1. Get Hosting And Your Website Domain

The first thing we need to do is host our website: this is where all of your website information is stored. WordPress recommends this as the preferred hosting provider. The only fee in this entire guide is hosting from the website. WordPress, Website Domain, and Website Themes are all free.

To get started, go to the official website and click the "Get Started" button. You will be redirected to a pricing page. Here you can see a variety of packages to choose from. Go for the $ 3.95 / month offer. Choose a domain name. This is your website url.

We encourage you to think about it carefully to get it right the first time.Although you can change it at any time, your website will be less trustworthy to visitors who change their domain name. Bluehost will let you know if a domain name is available or not so you can continue / come back with your selection and choose another domain name. Follow the directions and you are done.

Get hosting for just $ 2.65 / month using a simple trick. When you get to the last step, move your cursor to the top of the tab and hover your mouse pointer over the tab's close button (an X in most browsers). An offer will appear on the page that will allow you to get the hosting at a cheaper price. That gives you massive savings on the base package, and you don't have to sacrifice any of the features to get this. Don't forget to check your email (Bluehost should send an automatic link to your email) when you sign up for the hosting service.

2. Set Up Your Hosting and Install WordPress Once you have taken care of the hosting, the next step is to start building the website.

Sign into your Bluehost account. Bluehost gives you the ability to build your website right away.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and click the "Skip" button. Bluehost starts installing WordPress so you can work on it yourself.

3. Log In To Your New Website

Instead of setting up the site in Bluehost, most people find it easier to do it through WordPress. In time, and as you become comfortable with both services, you can also try modifying your website yourself through Bluehost.

  • From the Bluehost dashboard, click "My Sites" in the left menu.

  • Click your website from the list of websites there. If this is the first, it should be the only website there.

  • From here, log into your WordPress account. In the WP dashboard you will see a ribbon at the top of the dashboard with the label "Coming Soon Active". This shows you that the site is still under construction and has not yet started. You can change all of this by clicking the "Launch Your Site" button when you're done. We recommend clicking it anyway so that you can review in real time the changes you are making to the site (via the backend).

4. Install A Pre Made Theme for Your Website Wordpress offers many themes for your website, free of charge.

  • On the left menu, hover on ‘Appearance’

  • Click on ‘Themes’ when the sub menu appears

  • Click on ‘Add New’

  • Find your theme and click ‘Install,’ then ‘Activate’ on the next page.

  • Feel free to experiment with different themes, you can always change it

5. Enter Your Content You'll first want to make your tag line and enter your site name.

  • Click/ hover on ‘Settings’ from the dashboard menu

  • Click on ‘General’

  • Add a Title

  • Add a Tagline

To edit the link settings:

  • Go to ‘Settings, ’click on ‘Permalinks’

  • Go to ‘Common Settings’ and click on the ‘Post Name’ button

  • Save any changes you've made

6. Create Your Website Menu Each theme will have a different looking menu, but these are the general steps to set up your first website menu and allow visitors to see organized tabs on what the website offers.

  • Go to the dashboard, clock on ‘Appearance,’ and then click on ‘Menus’

  • Enter the subjects you want to show up on the menu.

  • Click on ‘Add to Menu’ after entering each selection.

  • On the bottom of the page, click on the ‘Primary Menu’ box.

  • When you are done, click ‘Save Menu’

Your menu will now show up on your website.

All that remains from here is entering your content and photos and you are on your way to a professional looking website!
